Faye Webster @ Mission Ballroom

We had the absolute honor of covering Faye Webster at Mission Ballroom on October 4th, 2024 in Denver, CO.

Faye Webster

Faye Webster was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, in a musical family. Her grandfather was a bluegrass guitarist, her mother a former guitarist and fiddle player, and her oldest brother played in a high school rock band. Webster began writing songs and performing as a teenager. In high school, she participated in a rap collective called PSA and self-released her first album, Run and Tell, at age 16 in 2013. During her senior year, she met rapper Ethereal, which led to her joining his label, Awful Records.

Webster briefly attended Belmont University in Nashville but returned home, missing Atlanta’s creative scene. A photography class and a camera gift sparked her interest in photographing musicians, leading to work with hip-hop artists like DRAM, Killer Mike, and Lil Yachty.

In 2017, Awful Records released her second album, Faye Webster, which introduced a more sophisticated indie folk sound. She followed it with Atlanta Millionaires Club in 2019, blending R&B with pedal steel-heavy indie folk. Webster’s career took off with appearances at Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo.

Her third album, I Know I’m Funny haha (2021), reached number 10 on Billboard’s Folk Albums chart. In 2022, she released the orchestral EP Car Therapy Sessions, and in 2023, the single “But Not Kiss” preceded her 2024 album Underdressed at the Symphony. Co-produced with Drew Vandenberg, the album explored symphonic elements and included a Vocoder-driven track, “Lego Ring,” featuring Lil Yachty.
