Games We Play
Active since the late 2010s, the Los Angeles pop-punk combo Games We Play make punchy, songs with witty, relatable lyrics. They initially vaulted to viral success in the early 2020s with songs like “Deadbeat” and “I Hope You’re Happy.” After signing with Fueled by Ramen imprint DCD2 Records, the group earned widespread attention for their EP Get a Job. They followed it in early 2024 with their full-length debut, Life’s Going Great.
Fronted by singer/guitarist Emmyn Calleiro, Games We Play formed around 2016 and began releasing songs independently. Calleiro’s gift for pop hooks and deft wordplay was apparent early on and, they finally had a breakthrough. Their song “Deadbeat,” began trending on social media and before long they were picked up by DCD2 Records. Their first release for the label was 2022’s Get a Job EP. This EP along with “Deadbeat,” contained the spiteful breakup anthem “I Hope You’re Happy.” Worldwide tours followed over the next year ahead of Games We Play’s debut album, Life’s Going Great.
