On March 21, 2025, The Echoplex in Los Angeles came alive with the infectious, lo-fi garage rock of Hinds. The Madrid-based quartet, known for their raw energy and effortlessly cool sound, headlined the night, bringing their signature mix of playful melodies and gritty guitar riffs. Opening the show was Mamalarky, an experimental indie outfit that blended intricate instrumentals with dreamy vocals, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening of dynamic performances.
Mamalarky
Mamalarky, an indie rock quartet formed in 2016 in Austin, Texas, consists of vocalist/guitarist Livvy Bennett, drummer Dylan Hill, keyboardist Michael Hunter, and bassist Noor Khan. The band emerged from Austin’s vibrant house show scene, with members’ friendships dating back to middle and high school. Their music blends elements of psych rock, lo-fi, and jazz rock, resulting in a distinctive sound.
After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2020, Mamalarky toured with artists like Slow Pulp and Jerry Paper. In 2022, they unveiled their second album, Pocket Fantasy, praised for balancing technical skill with playfulness. Recently, the band announced their third album, Hex Key, set for release on April 11, 2025, via Epitaph Records. They’ve previewed singles such as “#1 Best of All Time” and “Anhedonia,” showcasing their evolving artistry.

Hinds
Hinds, an indie rock band from Madrid, Spain, was formed in 2011 by Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote. Initially performing as a duo under the name Deers, they expanded in 2014 by adding bassist Ade Martín and drummer Amber Grimbergen, prompting a name change to Hinds. Their debut album, “Leave Me Alone,” released in 2016, garnered international acclaim for its raw energy and lo-fi charm. The band’s relentless touring schedule and dynamic live shows solidified their reputation in the global indie music scene.
In 2023, Martín and Grimbergen departed, returning Hinds to its original duo lineup. Undeterred, Cosials and Perrote released their fourth studio album, “Viva Hinds,” in September 2024. The album features collaborations with artists like Beck and showcases the band’s evolution while retaining their signature sound. Following the release, Hinds embarked on a North American tour, performing at venues including The Echoplex in Los Angeles on March 21, 2025.
