Fishbone
Fishbone emerged from Los Angeles in 1979 with a groundbreaking mix of ska, punk, funk, reggae, metal, and soul. The band quickly stood out for their unmatched energy and refusal to fit into one genre. Fronted by Angelo Moore, Fishbone became a key influence in alternative music while inspiring artists across punk, ska, and rock. Their live shows gained a reputation for explosive energy and fearless creativity.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Fishbone released acclaimed albums such as In Your Face, Truth and Soul, and The Reality of My Surroundings. Their music combined sharp social commentary with playful experimentation, helping define the alternative rock landscape. The band appeared on MTV and late-night shows, proving their appeal stretched beyond the underground. Songs like “Party at Ground Zero” and “Everyday Sunshine” remain fan favorites.
Fishbone’s lineup has evolved over the years, yet their spirit and sound never lost momentum. Their influence can be heard in artists like No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Sublime. In 2025, Fishbone released Stockholm Syndrome, their first full-length album in more than two decades. The record delivers blistering punk, funk grooves, and lyrics addressing racism, inequality, and media corruption. Still known for their high-energy performances, Fishbone continues to show why they are one of the most innovative bands in modern music history.
