Shannon Guest The Fray put on a beautiful performance at Vic Theater on October 4, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. Rett Madison started off the show and she truly set the stage for the night.

With a soulful performance style that’s imbued with blues and an understated twang, Rett Madison infuses her passionate adult alternative songs with longing. Formative trauma and identity issues were among the inspirations for the West Virginia native’s debut album, Pin-Up Daddy, which she recorded with members of Vulfpeck and Dawes. Her second LP, 2023’s One for Jackie, another personal one; it dedicated to her deceased mother.

The Fray
The Fray is an American rock band known for their passionate lyrics and melodic alt-rock sound. Pitching their music somewhere between the arena-friendly style of U2 and the mature pop/rock of bands like Coldplay, Keane, and Counting Crows. The Fray rose to prominence with their 2005 debut, How to Save a Life. The album’s title track, used in the TV series Grey’s Anatomy, became an international smash, reaching the Top Ten in the U.S. and peaking at number one in Bulgaria, Ireland, Canada, and Spain. The group’s platinum-selling eponymous sophomore effort debuted atop the Billboard charts, with subsequent efforts Scars & Stories (2012) and Helios (2014) continuing to showcase the band’s driving, piano-forward rock style. The departure of frontman Isaac Slade in 2022 saw the group soldier on as a trio, releasing the EP The Fray Is Back in 2024.
