The Head & The Heart rocked their show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 13, 2024 in Morrison, CO. With Michigander and Houndmouth starting of the show it made for a fun filled night for all. With a special guest appearance from David Shaw, lead singer of The Revivalists (who were playing the next two nights at the iconic venue).
Michigander
I saw Michigander back in December when he opened for Andrew McMahon in The Wilderness. This was his first time playing red rocks and it was so cute to see how grateful and thankful he was to be playing such an iconic venue. Something he mentioned during his set was that he had a pact with one of his friends. If he ever played Red Rocks, he’d rock some red crocs. And that he did.

Houndmouth
I wasn’t familiar with them prior to the show, but what an incredible group of musicians. They absolutely ripped multiple guitar solos, which I typically don’t enjoy, but it was mesmerizing to watch. I also am brain farting a bit but I believe they also changed who lead certain songs. And…I’m sure everyone’s favorite, they ended their set with their popular tune “Sedona”.

The Head and The Heart
I have to tell you, I was NOT expecting to have as much fun as I did at this show. My limited knowledge of their music had me believing it would be a lot more mellow than it was, and I steer more towards higher energy shows. Welp, I was definitely wrong about that.
They had top tier crowd interactions x a million. I want to say they went out into the crowd at least 3 or 4 times, different band members running around the front and first couple of rows. I LOOOOOVE when this is including at live shows. It really does allow the artist to fan relationship to transcend further. Bridging the gap between crowd and stage.
They also did a group performance with both openers + David Shaw (of The Revivalists). Family & friends joined them on stage as well, making it an amazing moment to witness, watch & be a part of.
Lastly, the production set up made it feel like we were in someone’s backyard in the summer. Sitting around the campfire and listening to someone strum an acoustic guitar. It felt very intimate while in a crowd of about 9,000 people.
