On June 27, 2025, the Hard Rock Cincinnati Outdoor Area played host to an electrifying night of indie rock as fans gathered under the summer sky for an unforgettable performance by headliner Young the Giant. The crowd was treated to a dynamic show filled with powerful vocals, captivating visuals, and a setlist that spanned beloved fan favorites and exciting new material.
Young The Giant
Young The Giant is an American indie-rock band that formed in 2004 in Irvine, California. The lineup includes Sameer Gadhia (vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass), and Francois Comtois (drums). Young The Giant gained early attention under the name The Jakes before rebranding as Young the Giant in 2009. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2010 and featured breakout hits “My Body,” “Cough Syrup,” and “Apartment.” These singles helped the band gain major radio play and land performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and at the MTV Video Music Awards, launching them into mainstream recognition.
Over the next decade, the band evolved their sound with critically praised albums including Mind Over Matter (2014), Home of the Strange (2016), and Mirror Master (2018). Each release showed their ability to balance introspective lyrics with soaring, anthemic instrumentation. Their 2022 concept album, American Bollywood, explored themes of identity, heritage, and the immigrant experience through a four-act structure. It marked their most ambitious project to date and earned positive reviews for both its storytelling and sonic experimentation.
In 2024, Young The Giant remained a staple in the alternative and indie rock scenes, playing major festivals and continuing to grow their global fanbase. In early 2025, they announced their “In the Open” acoustic tour, offering fans a chance to hear stripped-down versions of their catalog in intimate settings. The band has become known for their magnetic live performances, genre-blending sound, and frontman Gadhia’s dynamic stage presence. With over a decade of music and millions of streams across platforms, Young the Giant continues to be a driving force in modern rock.
