Band of Horses Mesmerize at The Caverns with Soulful, Unforgettable Set

On July 3, 2025, Band of Horses brought their signature blend of indie rock and Southern charm to The Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee, delivering a heartfelt and atmospheric performance beneath the iconic underground venue’s limestone ceiling. The night began with a set from Secret Guest. As the headliner took the stage, the crowd was treated to a nostalgic yet invigorating journey through the band’s expansive catalog.

Secret Guest

Secret Guest is a high-voltage rock band born from Charleston, South Carolina’s thriving DIY scene. Known for their irreverent charm and kinetic performances, the group has carved out a reputation as one of the Southeast’s most unpredictable and exhilarating live acts. Fusing punk intensity with garage rock swagger and a dash of no-wave chaos, Secret Guest balances technical skill with raw, unfiltered energy. Their sound nods to the likes of Television, The Stooges, and early Talking Heads, yet it remains unmistakably their own—sharp, scrappy, and subversively fun.

Since their formation, Secret Guest has dropped a string of self-released records and EPs that showcase their eclecticism and refusal to sit still creatively. Albums like Goodbye, Dry Jest, and The World’s Best American Band deliver tight riffs, jagged rhythms, and lyrics that oscillate between sardonic wit and existential yearning. The band thrives in the unexpected: sudden tempo shifts, wild solos, and moments of near-meltdown that somehow resolve into cohesive anthems. This unpredictability is central to their appeal—they’re not interested in polish or pretense, only in the thrill of performance and the urgency of sound.

What sets Secret Guest apart is their ability to blend chaos with control. They’re just as likely to make you laugh as they are to provoke you, pulling audiences into a musical experience that feels part house party, part existential freak-out. Their cult following continues to grow as they tour through venues and festivals across the U.S., earning a reputation for sets that feel spontaneous, alive, and completely their own. Whether you’re a first-time listener or a longtime fan, Secret Guest offers a reminder of what rock music can be when it’s let off the leash.

Band of Horses

Band of Horses is an American indie rock band formed in Seattle in 2004 by singer and guitarist Ben Bridwell. Originally signed to Sub Pop Records, they gained early recognition with their 2006 debut album Everything All the Time, which featured the breakout single “The Funeral.” Band of Horses sound blends shimmering guitars, emotional lyricism, and reverb-drenched vocals, drawing comparisons to artists like Neil Young and My Morning Jacket. Over time, Band of Horses relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, and became known for merging Pacific Northwest indie roots with a Southern-tinged rock aesthetic.

Band of Horses 2007 follow-up, Cease to Begin, debuted in the Top 40 and cemented their place in the indie landscape. In 2010, Infinite Arms earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album and marked their major-label debut. The album’s rich production and anthemic tracks brought the band wider attention. Since then, Band of Horses has released several acclaimed records, including Mirage Rock (2012), Why Are You OK (2016), and Things Are Great (2022), their first self-produced album and a return to their raw, emotional sound.

They have performed at top festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits and toured internationally with acts like Pearl Jam and Snow Patrol. In 2025, the band continued evolving with a fresh take on their signature track “The Funeral,” teaming up with electronic producer GRYFFIN for a dance remix that introduced them to a new generation of fans. With a devoted fanbase and a reputation for passionate, high-energy live shows, Band of Horses remains a defining voice in modern American rock.
