On the evening of June 6, 2025, Summit Music Hall in Denver buzzed with excitement as Smoking Popes kicked off the night. They brought their signature blend of punk‑tinged romance and sharp-energy harmonies, setting a lively stage. Then, Bayside took over for their 25th‑anniversary Errors Tour celebration. The band delivered a powerful, nostalgia‑fueled performance, mixing fan favorites and deep album cuts for an unforgettable night in Denver.

Smoking Popes

Smoking Popes formed in 1991 in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. The Caterer brothers—Josh, Eli, and Matt—fronted the band with Mike Felumlee on drums. They built a cult following by blending punk energy, heartfelt crooning vocals, and soaring melodies. Their single “Need You Around” hit alternative radio and landed on the Clueless soundtrack. They earned praise from outlets like LA Times and toured with Green Day, Jawbreaker, and Jimmy Eat World.

They reunited in 2005 and kept momentum with consistent touring and new music. In April 2025, they released Lovely Stuff, their first album since 2018’s Into the Agony. They continue to record and perform, driven by tight musicianship and heartfelt songwriting.
