All-American Rejects had a rockin’ evening at Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO on September 22, 2023. Other rockers of the evening were The Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack, and New Found Glory making for a a fantastic show filled with nostalgia for all.
The Get Up Kids
The Get Up Kids are an American rock band that emerged from the indie and emo scenes of the 1990s. Formed in Kansas City, Missouri, the band consists of Matt Pryor (vocals/guitar), Jim Suptic (guitar/vocals), Rob Pope (bass), Ryan Pope (drums), and James Dewees (keyboards), The Get Up Kids have enjoyed both critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase throughout their career.
The Get Up Kids formed when the band’s members were in high school, fueled by their love for punk rock and indie music. Influenced by bands like Superchunk and Fugazi, they developed a sound characterized by confessional lyrics and raw, emotional performances. In 1996, they released their debut album, “Four Minute Mile,” which received critical praise and quickly established them in the music industry.

Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrack was an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1997. The band was formed by Justin Pierre (vocals and guitar) and Joshua Cain (lead guitar) in the late 1990s. They later recruited Jesse Johnson (Moog synthesizer and keyboards), Matthew Taylor (bass), and Tony Thaxton (drums) to complete the lineup.
The band’s breakthrough came with their debut album, I Am the Movie, released in 2003. The album’s quirky yet emotional songs, such as “The Future Freaks Me Out” and “My Favorite Accident,” quickly gained attention and drew comparisons to bands like Weezer and Jimmy Eat World. Motion City Soundtrack’s witty and introspective lyrics set them apart in the pop-punk and emo scenes.

New Found Glory
New Found Glory is an American pop-punk band that has played a role in shaping the modern pop-punk music genre. Formed in Coral Springs, Florida, in 1997, the band quickly gained recognition. Comprising members Jordan Pundik (vocals), Chad Gilbert (lead guitar), Ian Grushka (bass guitar), Cyrus Bolooki (drums), and Steve Klein (former rhythm guitar, now a former member), New Found Glory has built a devoted fanbase and left an indelible mark on the music industry.
New Found Glory formed when Pundik, Gilbert, Grushka, and Bolooki came together with a shared passion for punk rock and a desire to create music that refected their own experiences. The band took its name from a lyric in the 1997 song “Head on Collision” by the hardcore band New Found Glory. In 1999, the band released their debut studio album, “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” which showcased their energetic and melodic sound. The album helped establish them amongst the pop-punk scene.

All-American Rejects
The All-American Rejects formed in the early 2000s, and comprising Tyson Ritter (vocalist and bassist), Nick Wheeler (guitarist and vocalist), Mike Kennerty (rhythm guitarist), and Chris Gaylor (drummer). The band started in Oklahome with Ritter and Wheeler when they met in highschool. The two bonded over their love for music and started their band in 1999 and they originally went by A Million Miles but soon changed it to All-American Rejects.
In 2005, The All-American Rejects released their album, “Move Along,” which brought them to mainstream music. The album included chart-toppers like “Dirty Little Secret.” The band’s third album, “When the World Comes Down,” followed in 2008 and featured the massive hit “Gives You Hell.” This album was also the debut of Kennerty and Gaylor as band members. These hit songs still remain iconic anthems to this day. The All-American Rejects are recognized not only for their chart-topping hits but also for their influence on the pop-punk and alternative rock genres.
