KALEO Lights Up Red Rocks with Electric Night of Blues and Rock

On May 10, 2025, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, was the backdrop for an unforgettable night of blues-infused rock as Icelandic band KALEO headlined the iconic venue. The evening began with The Marcus King Band, who delivered a soulful and electrifying set, captivating the audience with their blend of Southern rock and blues. Following the opener, KALEO took the stage, enthralling fans with a dynamic performance that showcased their signature sound, combining powerful vocals and atmospheric instrumentation. The band’s setlist featured fan favorites and deep cuts, creating a memorable experience under the stars at one of the world’s most renowned outdoor venues.


The Marcus King Band

The Marcus King Band is a Southern rock and blues powerhouse formed in 2013 in Greenville, South Carolina. The band is fronted by Marcus King, a guitar prodigy and soulful vocalist who comes from a long line of musicians. Alongside King are drummer Jack Ryan, bassist Stephen Campbell, and guitarist Drew Smithers, forming a tight-knit ensemble known for electrifying live shows and genre-blending musicianship.

Their debut album Soul Insight dropped in 2015 and climbed to number eight on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. The band followed it with their 2016 self-titled release, earning praise for its fusion of blues, Southern rock, funk, and psychedelic soul. King’s dynamic guitar playing and emotional delivery helped set the band apart from their contemporaries. Their sound recalls classic rock legends while remaining fiercely modern.

Outside of the band, Marcus King launched a critically acclaimed solo career. His 2020 album El Dorado, produced by Dan Auerbach, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album. In 2024, he returned with Mood Swings, produced by Rick Rubin, revealing a more vulnerable, introspective side with songs touching on mental health and personal growth. Whether as a solo artist or bandleader, King commands the stage with raw talent and heartfelt storytelling. The Marcus King Band continues to tour widely, captivating audiences with every soul-soaked performance and reminding fans why Southern rock still thrives.

KALEO

KALEO is an Icelandic blues-rock band formed in 2012 in the small town of Mosfellsbær by childhood friends Jökull Júlíusson (vocals, guitar), Davíð Antonsson (drums, vocals), Daníel Kristjánsson (bass), and Rubin Pollock (guitar). The band’s name, meaning “the voice” in Hawaiian, perfectly captures their emotionally rich sound and powerful storytelling. Their music blends blues, folk, and rock influences, creating a style both timeless and globally resonant.

KALEO gained international recognition with the release of their breakthrough album A/B in 2016. The double-platinum single “Way Down We Go” became a global hit, topping Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and appearing in dozens of TV shows, films, and video games. Another standout track, “No Good,” earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance. Their combination of gritty vocals, haunting melodies, and lyrical depth struck a chord with listeners around the world.

Renowned for their intense and cinematic live shows, KALEO has performed at major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and SXSW. Their ability to move seamlessly from thunderous rock anthems to stripped-down acoustic ballads keeps fans captivated from start to finish. In 2025, they released their fourth studio album Mixed Emotions, an introspective and sonically adventurous project that explores vulnerability, transformation, and emotional resilience. With global tours and critical acclaim, KALEO continues to redefine modern rock through an Icelandic lens, bringing soul and authenticity to every performance.
