KALEO @ Red Rocks

KALEO rocked the rocks on June 16th, 2024 in Morrison, CO at Red Rocks Amphitehatre. The icelandic rock group combined with the electric performance from opener Matt Maeson gave the crowd a night to remember.

Matt Maeson

Chesapeake Bay native Matt Maeson plays a dark-hued brand of rock that mixes gritty folk elements with slick modern pop production. The singer/songwriter first found success with his 2017 single “Cringe,” then topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart with “Hallucinogenics” from his 2019 debut album, Bank On the Funeral. Over the next two years, Maeson focused on collaborations, and in 2021 formed the project USERx with producer Rozwell. In 2022, he returned to his solo work with the single “Blood Runs Red.”

Maeson took to music early, learning drums and guitar at a young age. He eventually toured as part of his father’s prison ministry. Melding bluesy indie folk and modern production, he began posting tracks online. He eventually caught the ear of Atlantic affiliate Neon Gold Records, which signed him in 2016. Maeson embarked on his first headlining tour that summer, which was presented by Communion, the music organization founded by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett.

Led by the singles “Cringe” and “Grave Digger,” his debut EP, Who Killed Matt Maeson?, was released in conjunction with Atlantic and Neon Gold in March 2017. A year later, Maeson issued a six-song EP, The Hearse, followed in 2019 by his full-length debut, Bank On the Funeral. The album included the alternative chart-topping single “Hallucinogenics.” A later version of the same song featured guest vocals from Lana Del Rey. In 2020, Maeson formed a new band, USERx, with producer Rozwell. The duo released their eponymous debut project in 2021. That same year, he guested on Illenium’s Heavenly Side EP. A stand-alone single, the hypnotic and bluesy “Blood Runs Red,” arrived in May 2022.

KALEO

After amassing over 5+ billion global streams, 67+ international certifications, and countless sold-out headline shows spanning the globe from London to Moscow, Grammy-nominated Icelandic rock band KALEO has proven to be a worldwide phenomenon. The Rolling Stones hand-picked KALEO to open stadium dates for them as well.

After wrapping up nearly 3 years of non-stop touring in support of their major label debut album “A/B” in October 2018, frontman JJ Julius Son began working on the highly anticipated follow-up. In 2020, KALEO unveiled the first taste of sophomore album “Surface Sounds.” They simultaneously released “Break My Baby” and “I Want More.” This reached #6 on Billboard’s Triple A radio chart and was performed live on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” KALEO subsequently released rock heavy “Alter Ego,” the brooding ballad “Backbone,” powerful and thought-provoking “Skinny” and funk-forward “Hey Gringo” on their second full length album “Surface Sounds.” In 2022, KALEO set out on their worldwide Fight or Flight Tour, which sold over 200,000 tickets across 91 cities in 26 countries around the world.
