Larkin Poe

Larkin Poe is an American roots rock band formed by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, hailing from Calhoun, Georgia. Their musical journey began in their teenage years with the formation of the acoustic trio The Lovell Sisters, alongside their older sister, Jessica. The trio gained recognition for their harmonious blend of bluegrass, folk, and classical influences, performing at esteemed venues like the Grand Ole Opry and festivals such as Bonnaroo.

In 2010, following the disbandment of The Lovell Sisters, Rebecca and Megan embarked on a new musical path as Larkin Poe, a name honoring their great-great-great-great-grandfather, a distant cousin of Edgar Allan Poe. This new venture marked a shift towards a grittier, more electrified sound, blending elements of blues, rock, and soul. Their early years as Larkin Poe were marked by the release of several independent EPs and collaborations, showcasing their versatility and commitment to musical exploration.

The duo’s breakthrough came with their debut studio album, Kin (2014), which received critical acclaim for its raw energy and authentic storytelling. Subsequent albums like Peach (2017), Venom & Faith (2018), and Self Made Man (2020) further solidified their reputation, with Venom & Faith earning a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Their 2022 release, Blood Harmony, won the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album, highlighting their continued evolution and resonance within the genre.

Known for their electrifying live performances, Rebecca’s commanding vocals and guitar prowess, combined with Megan’s masterful lap steel and harmonies, create a dynamic and immersive concert experience. Their music, deeply rooted in Southern heritage, resonates with themes of empowerment, resilience, and authenticity, making them a formidable force in contemporary rock and blues.
