The Last Dinosaurs took the 9:30 Club for their St. Patty’s show on March 17, 2025, in Washington DC. Accompanied by Tipling Rock and Jasper Bones, it made for a spectacular night.
Jasper Bones
Jasper Bones opened the evening with some beautiful music to get the crowd going. The venue was already packed super early in the evening, showing the fans’ dedication to an entire night full of amazing music! Jasper’s set did a phenomenal job of having both an intimate and dynamic set; something that is not easy to achieve. The intimate nature came from Bones being the only one onstage. It always makes the room feel just a tad bit smaller in the best way. But the production made the performance in this “small room” feel large. Multicolored lights and light changes accented the mood of each song in a way that made the songs feel cohesive with the room. Overall, Jasper Bones was the perfect start to a perfect evening of music!

Tipling Rock
After Jasper Bones, Tipling Rock took the stage and brought the fans right in with their energy. The theme of great lighting continued with all sorts of different colors and patterns. A sign featuring the band’s name was displayed centerstage and changed to match the color scheme of each individual song.
I found so much joy in this because on multiple occasions the crowd was lit too so it was easy to take in and capture just how involved the crowd was in this set! And, in my opinion, fan involvement really was the highlight of this performance! You can tell when an artist really connects with the fans, and Tipling Rock was on a roll this evening. On multiple occasions they had the whole venue putting their hands up in the air and swaying side to side for entire songs! Fans were also cheering, throwing their hands up, and dancing away for the duration of the performance. Oftentimes, this can get missed visually when only the stage was lit; but the production of Tipling Rock’s set really accented these little joys that made their performance so special.

The Last Dinosaurs
Honestly, I owe all my joy from this evening to my friend Alyssa. An avid fan of Last Dinosaurs, she suggested that I should check out their music and cover this show. Once she initially texted me, I dove into their music, quickly realizing I had a new favorite artist to add to my mixes. I loved the upbeat nature of the entire show and this all came to a head as Last Dinosaurs took the stage.
Photographing this show was so much fun because it felt like having the most insanely fun soundtrack on while doing something you truly love. It felt a bit like being in a movie during the best, most fun, incredibly upbeat moment. There’s something so cool about bands that make music that sounds like it should soundtrack your life, and Last Dinosaurs do just that. They’re also a ton of fun on stage.
Even though the show was not sold out, the venue was packed and felt like the energy of a sold-out show. It is always impressive when a band can take a non-sold out show and make it feel like there isn’t a single unsold ticket in the entire venue.
The fans did not disappoint either. They committed to having the time of their lives and that made the show extra fun to document. There’s lots of dancing, “rock on” symbols being thrown in the air, and jumping up and down. The fans were also incredibly kind, eager to offer to move out of the way so I could grab the perfect shot or get to another part of the venue. I love artists that have fan bases that are both fun but also respectful and kind! These bands and their fans really are the best type of people to spend an evening with!
Plus, Last Dinosaurs continued the streak of being visually stunning, the lighting was so vibrant and colorful that the whole room felt like the world’s coolest nightclub. From start to finish, this show is up there as one of the prettiest shows I have ever captured. I’m a massive believer that setting the mood for a show can really bring the performance to life and Last Dinosaurs did just that. This whole show was a 10/10! Last Dinosaurs brought the music, the vibes, the atmosphere, the energy, and above all a stellar performance to DC!
