On August 2, indie rock fans packed into the Bluebird Theater in for a high-energy night headlined by Late Night Drive Home. The Texas-based band brought their signature nostalgic alt-rock sound to the Mile High City, delivering a dynamic performance that had the crowd singing along from start to finish. Kicking things off was opener ALEXSUCKS, whose gritty, garage-punk energy set the tone for an unforgettable evening of raw emotion and electric vibes.
ALEXSUCKS
ALEXSUCKS is a gritty alt-punk band formed in Los Angeles, led by frontman Alex Alvarez. Originally from Denver, Alvarez grew up immersed in skate culture before moving to LA, where he teamed up with John Luther (guitar), Ethan Demoulin (drums), and Garrett Orseno (bass and DJ). Together, they built a sound that fuses early 2000s garage rock with modern punk energy and a DIY aesthetic. Drawing comparisons to The Strokes, FIDLAR, and early Arctic Monkeys, ALEXSUCKS thrives on raw emotion, distorted guitar riffs, and lyrics that capture the angst of youth and rebellion.
The band broke onto the scene in 2021 with their debut EP Angsty Teen, which quickly gained traction among underground fans. Their breakout single “Talk to You” earned over a million streams and became a staple on alt-rock playlists. In 2023, they released their first full-length album The Gutter, produced by Grammy-winning producer Brendan O’Brien. The album features standout tracks like “6 Pack and Cigarettes,” “Can We Forget,” and “Only One I Got,” showcasing the band’s grunge-influenced hooks and unapologetic attitude. The record was praised for its chaotic yet catchy sound, helping them carve a name in the LA indie rock scene.
ALEXSUCKS has built a reputation for explosive live shows that balance reckless abandon with tight musicianship. Their onstage presence channels the intensity of early punk with the charisma of modern rock frontmen. In early 2025, the band dropped a new single, “Worm in the Sun,” teasing the next era of their evolving sound. With a growing cult following and a relentless touring schedule, ALEXSUCKS continues to push forward as one of the most exciting new names in alt-punk. Their music speaks to skate kids, indie diehards, and anyone chasing something louder than life.

Late Night Drive Home
Late Night Drive Home is an emerging indie rock band from El Paso, Texas, known for fusing nostalgic alternative rock with modern production and emotionally charged lyrics. The group began in 2019 as a DIY project led by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Andre Portillo and lead guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas. Late Night Drive Home gained early attention by self-releasing lo-fi demos and uploading them to SoundCloud, where they quickly built a loyal following. Bassist Freddy Bañuelos and drummer Brian Dolan later rounded out the band’s lineup, completing the quartet’s energetic and raw dynamic.
Late Night Drive Home rose to prominence in 2021 with their viral hit “Stress Relief,” which earned them over 100 million streams across platforms. That momentum led to a deal with Epitaph Records and catapulted them onto the national touring circuit. Late Night Drive Home followed up with several successful singles and EPs, showcasing their ability to blend reverb-soaked guitar riffs with themes of existential anxiety, digital disconnection, and post-teen angst. In June 2025, Late Night Drive Home released their debut full-length album As I Watch My Life Online, a record that explores modern identity through a cathartic mix of garage rock, synth layers, and introspective storytelling.
With a sound reminiscent of early 2000s indie and a distinct Gen Z perspective, Late Night Drive Home continues to grow their fanbase through high-energy live shows and emotionally resonant songwriting. Their growing discography and genre-blending style have cemented their status as one of the most exciting new voices in the alternative rock scene.
