joan

Making mellow pop with an earnest spirit and glistening ’80s new wave and ’90s R&B-influenced production, joan is the duo of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford. Their first EP, portra, arrived in 2018, drawing favorable comparisons to the 1975 and LANY. They have continued to evolve, embracing a vibrant blend of classic boy band and contemporary pop sounds, as on 2020’s Cloudy and 2021’s dual Hi and Bye EPs. They also paired with singer Josie Dunne for the moody 2022 single “Point.”

Juliana Madrid

Juliana Madrid is quickly making a name for herself in the indie music scene with her unique blend of folk, alternative, and pop influences. At just 23 years old, the Texas-born, NYC-based artist has already captured the hearts of many with her relatable coming-of-age tracks.

In August 2022, Juliana released her self-titled EP, produced by GRAMMY-nominated Benjamin Ruttner of The Knocks. The EP dives into relationships, religion, and growing up. The EP received widespread acclaim from many respected outlets, cementing her status as an artist on the rise.

Juliana released her new EP, “Lifetime,” on July 19th. “Lifetime”  was written over three days at an artist retreat in upstate New York, organized by Mumford & Sons. She collaborated with artists and producers such as Clairo, Justin Young (The Vaccines), Benjamin Ruttner, and James Flannigan.

“Not In My Lifetime” was the first taste of the EP, showcasing Juliana’s evolving sound. The song is about coming to terms with the fact that not all of your hopes and dreams can be fulfilled, a theme that is both personal and universal.

MisterWives

MisterWives emerged out of New York City in the mid-2010s with a fizzing indie pop sound that veered from quirky synth-driven dance-pop to lush indie folk and various points beyond. Their infectious 2014 single “Reflections” put them on the map, and they went on to notch two Billboard-charting albums for the Photo Finish label. A brief tenure on Fueled by Ramen yielded 2020’s epic Superbloom, after which they formed their own imprint and released subsequent singles like 2021’s “Stepped on a Bee” and 2022’s “Dreams.” Their fourth album, Nosebleeds, arrived in 2023 and showcased an edgier, post-punk sound.
