Dashboard Confessional was, Hands Down, the emo refresher we needed at the Fillmore Auditorium on October 16th, 2024 in Denver, CO.
Dashboard Confessional
Ever since I was young, I’ve dreamed of seeing Dashboard Confessional live. Well, at the ripe age of 28, I did the damn thing – and let me tell you, it was everything. Honestly, it felt like the culmination of years of anticipation. The second they hit the stage, it was like I stepped into a time machine.
The crowd was this perfect blend of die-hard fans who’d been with them from the start and newer listeners who had discovered their music along the way. But it didn’t matter, everyone felt like they were on the same emotional wavelength. From the first chord, it was like we all collectively pressed play on a playlist filled with nostalgia, remembering exactly where we were the first time we heard these songs.
We sang EVERY word
No matter how raspy or off-key we were. The energy was unreal, people were screaming the lyrics as if it was a matter of life and death. And when they played Vindicated and Hands Down, I think the entire room just lost it. It wasn’t just about the songs anymore, it was about the memories they carried with them. It was the soundtrack to some of the best and most confusing times of growing up. At that point, we were all so into it that it felt like the whole venue was vibrating, a shared moment that could’ve lasted forever.
The night was full of all these emotions I didn’t even know I still had in me. It’s wild how music has this way of bringing everything back, like you can almost feel the past in the air. And for me, that show was everything I’d hoped for and more. It was the perfect mix of nostalgia, pure joy, and a little bit of heartache, all wrapped into one unforgettable night. I’m still not over it.
