This Is Lorelei is the solo project of Brooklyn-based musician Nate Amos, known for his emotionally rich songwriting and genre-blending sound that seamlessly integrates indie rock, pop, and experimental music. Initially a part of the bands Water From Your Eyes and My Idea, Amos’s musical journey has always been defined by his deep connection to his craft and his willingness to experiment with sound.
This Is Lorelei first gained traction as a bedroom project, with Amos taking full creative control of both the writing and recording processes. His intimate yet expansive approach to music led to a series of successful releases, including his 2024 album Box for Buddy, Box for Star. This album is a significant milestone in his career, marking a shift toward a more polished and intentional sound. MJ Lenderman
MJ Lenderman, born Mark Jacob Lenderman in Asheville, North Carolina, is a prolific singer-songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist whose work blends alt-country, indie rock, and slacker rock with personal, introspective storytelling. Lenderman first gained attention for his role as a guitarist and collaborator in the popular indie band Wednesday. His early exposure to the indie scene was influenced by his connections to musicians like Indigo De Souza, with whom he performed, laying the foundation for his own sound.
In 2020, Lenderman launched his solo career, debuting with Manning Fireworks in 2024. This album marked a significant evolution in his music, showcasing not only his distinctive, guitar-driven melodies but also his vulnerability in songwriting. Manning Fireworks explored themes of love, loss, and self-reflection with honesty, offering raw, unfiltered lyrics that resonated deeply with listeners. His music has been described as “raw, gritty, and disarmingly beautiful,” characterized by a loose, almost untamed sound that reflects his southern roots and indie sensibilities.
