Morgan Wade @ Ryman Auditorium

The Ryman Auditorium, aka the Mother Church, has hosted legends. On February 7, 2025, Morgan Wade and supporting artist Amy Ray Band carved their names into its sacred walls with performances that were raw, heartfelt, and electrifying.

Amy Ray Band

Amy Ray gained recognition for her work with the Indigo Girls and opened the night with a set that felt both intimate and commanding. Her voice was rich with years of storytelling and self-confessed cough syrup truths. Enduring the artistry, she was on full display on stage with accompanying musicians. Playing everything from the banjo, fiddle, dobro, horns, and more, because “it’s Nashville.” Her songs resonated deeply with the audience – those journey of a life songs that have you in tears or raising your hands to the sky in a testament of: that’s my story too. The crowd’s toe-tapping and standing ovation prompted a gracious, “Thanks for listening, you’re so sweet,” leading the night into another deeply moving, soul-stirring set with headliner Morgan Wade.

Morgan Wade

Morgan Wade took the stage with an energy that was both fierce and vulnerable. Her ability to channel raw emotion into her performance made it impossible not to feel every lyric down to your bones. The setlist showcased Wade moving seamlessly between the raw power of her rock-influenced numbers and the haunting vulnerability of her quieter moments. Like in “2AM in London” and “Juliet,” both of which immediately made it to my playlist during the show. There was little talk between songs…the lyrics did plenty of talking on their own.

There’s something about hearing an artist like Morgan Wade at the Ryman that makes you believe in the magic of live music. The authenticity, the connection, the undeniable talent—it was all on full display. Wade is an artist who is undoubtedly carving out a legendary path of her own.

The evening stood as a testament to the power of authentic voices. The pairing of these artists proved inspired: Ray’s wisdom and Wade’s fire. It created an unforgettable night that reminded us why we gather in these sacred spaces: to feel something real.
