Palace @ Fox Theater

On March 28, 2025, the Fox Theater in Oakland hosted an unforgettable night of music as Palace took the stage for a mesmerizing performance. The London-based indie rock band captivated the crowd with their signature blend of dreamy melodies and heartfelt lyricism, delivering a set that resonated deeply with fans. Opening the night was Marlon Funaki, whose soulful sound set the perfect tone for the evening, warming up the audience with an intimate and dynamic performance. From start to finish, the show was a testament to the power of live music, leaving concertgoers in awe of the magic that unfolded on stage.


Marlon Funaki

​Marlon Funaki, a 23-year-old Californian solo artist, blends alternative rock vocals with jazzy, psychedelic guitar. His musical journey began in a middle school jazz band, leading him to self-teach guitar via YouTube tutorials. At 16, he released his first single, “Get Out of My Face,” on SoundCloud, propelling his career forward.  His dynamic performances have captivated audiences worldwide.​

In 2023, Funaki’s career soared when he opened for country star Billy Currington at Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA. This opportunity arose after Currington attended one of Funaki’s shows at Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu.  Recently, Funaki released “Under Fire,” a heartfelt ballad showcasing his musical range and emotional depth. Balancing his rising fame, he continues to work part-time at Guitar Center, embodying dedication and humility.​

Palace

​Palace, formed in London in 2012, consists of childhood friends Leo Wyndham (vocals, guitar), Rupert Turner (guitar), & Matt Hodges (drums). Their debut EP, “Lost in the Night,” released in 2014, introduced their atmospheric blend of alternative rock and blues. The band’s first full-length album, “So Long Forever,” came out in 2016, followed by “Life After” in 2019.

In 2022, Palace released their third album, “Shoals,” exploring themes of existentialism and human emotion. Continuing their creative evolution, they unveiled the EP “Greyhound” in early 2025, showcasing their signature introspective lyrics & melodic soundscapes.  The band maintains a strong connection with fans through engaging live performances & active social media presence.​
