P!nk @ Schottenstein Center

Looking back at my first memory of listening to music, all I can remember is listening to
P!nk with my parents and my favorite song being “Fun House”. Being able to see her live for the
first time on her Summer Carnival Tour was amazing. She made a stop at The Schottenstein Center on October 9th in Columbus, OH. The least I can say is that I was astonished. I was not sure
exactly what to expect, but it definitely was not that.

The Script

Before I got into her performance, I wanted to talk about who opened for her. To start off
the night, she had a DJ named KidCutUp. He did a great job at getting the crowd’s energy up
and also was playing well known songs that everyone loved. He played between sets making
sure that the crowd was ready to cheer the artists on. The band that performed before P!nk was
The Script. Going into this, I was not sure if I knew any of their songs, but I soon learned I knew
multiple. They were classics like Hall of Fame or Breakeven. He did a great job at interacting
with the crowd and making sure he went to both sides of the stage, so everyone would be able
to see him.

P!nk

As the show was about to start, the lights went dark and an intro video began playing. As
the crowd started to get excited and eager for P!nk to come out, she appeared high above the
stage. After she performed a trust fall, she began singing one of her hit songs “Get The Party
Started”. Half way through the song, P!nk once again was lifted above stage alongside two of her
back up dancers performing more aerial stunts. I have never witnessed anything like this at a
concert and had me surprised behind my camera. This also would not be the last of her
extraordinary stunts. During her third song, “Who Knew”, she sang in the background while there
was a contemporary dance performance between two people. I thought this was very unique
because you can feel the powerful meaning of the song. I have always thought that she was a
down to earth person and her show proved to me that she was. Throughout her show, there
were great crowd interactions and she also talked to a couple kids thanking them for their gifts.

Another thing that stood out to me was how many outfit changes she had. During some of these
moments, it also allowed her back up vocalists to have a spotlight moment as well as her band.
There were a few more things that stood out to me. The first one was the special moment when
she brought her daughter out to sing “Cover Me In Sunshine”…which made everyone emotional.
How happy she was dancing and singing I Am Here. Finally, the last two aerial stunts during “Try”
and “So What”. During “Try”, she was raised up in a cage with three other dancers. She was
spinning around singing throughout the whole song. I was amazed by this because I applaud
her for singing while spinning repeatedly. Her last song “So What”, she was put into a harness
and then launched into the sky, allowing her to hover over the higher sections. Then, she flew
around the whole arena. I thought this was a cool idea because it allows everyone to see her up
close.

Overall, I would recommend adding a P!nk concert to your bucket list of artists to see.
The energy she brings and the performance she puts on is not one you want to miss. She will
have you in awe with her amazing stunts and vocal range. After leaving the concert, you’ll
already be buying another ticket to her show.
