The Veronicas @ The Echo Lounge

The Veronicas really know how to party, this being at their show on April 30, 2024 at The Echo Lounge in Dallas, TX. Starting off the night was Jesse Jo Stark – & it was a show to remember.

Jesse Jo Stark

According to Wikipedia, Jesse Jo Stark is an American pop musician. If you ask her, she would describe her music as “horrific hillbilly.” Her genre blending tunes come from growing up listening to country music and her love for horror films. She perfectly brought this combination to her live show opening up for The Veronicas. Her set consisted of singing subdued acoustic songs to screaming out energetic rock songs. Although I was unfamiliar with her, she had quite a good amount of fans upfront singing along with her. One fan was even kind enough to share their fries with her mid-song! Jesse Jo has this mystique and quiet intensity about her, where all she has to do was walk across the stage and you’re left hooked and wanting more.

The Veronicas

One thing about me is that if you ask me anything music related, it takes me all of about 1.5 seconds to bring up The Veronicas. The first time I saw them live was in 2009 & I swear it altered my brain chemistry. They weren’t back in my area again until 2015 when they were doing a small run of acoustic shows. Needless to say, when I saw they coming back to the US again, I quite literally freaked out.

I don’t even know how to begin to describe the show. Like seriously… I just sat here for a solid ten minutes trying to figure out how to put it into words & not blabber on for an eternity. To put it simply, it was AMAZING. The energy from Lisa & Jess was off the charts and everyone in the crowd seemed to be living their best lives. I met another photographer who is a huge fan of theirs as well & it was her first time seeing them. I didn’t know if I was more excited to be seeing them again myself or to be witnessing her seeing them for the first time! We had such a blast singing & dancing along while also getting to take photos.

The whole night was a dream scenario for me. I still can’t even believe it happened. I have been listening to The Veronicas for about half of my life & they are one of the few artists that really just stick with me. Although they’ve been around for 20 years, this tour feels like a fresh start of sorts. I’m so appreciative that after everything they’ve been through (and they’ve been through a lot), that they are still doing what they do. Because they are so dang good at it!
