Tinlicker @ Mission Ballroom

Tinlicker crushed their show at Mission Ballroom on September 20th, 2024 in Denver, Colorado. With Felix Raphael warming up the stage, it made for the perfect night.

Felix Raphael

Felix’s passion for music was evident from the earliest moments of his life. As a young child, his mother introduced him to singing lessons, sparking his fascination with vocal expression. This early exposure set the stage for a musical journey that would see him explore various instruments. He ultimately embraced singing as a vital part of his artistic identity while initially hesitant about blending electronic sounds with his musical background. Felix eventually found his unique musical signature in the synergy of electronic beats, organic indie feels and his distinctive voice. His style defies easy categorization, but it can be best described as Melodic House. Above all, melody and harmony remain paramount to him.

Collaborations with eminent figures in the music scene such as Ben Boehmer, Oliver Koletzki, Bookashade, and Tinlicker have helped elevate his profile, making his name recognizable. Additionally, Felix started his own label, YION, which is swiftly gaining recognition as a notable Melodic Organic House label in Berlin, which focuses on the crossover side of electronic music with a touch of organic music. Informed by his rich musical background, Felix’s enduring passion for live performances has persisted. He meticulously crafted a live set and performance, exclusively featuring his original productions accompanied by live singing, electric guitar and spontaneous musical improvisations.

Tinlicker

Tinlicker is a Dutch electronic music act formed in 2013, consisting of Micha Heyboer (Drums, Keys) and Jordi van Achthoven (Drums, Keys).

The name ‘Tinlicker’ comes from circuit bending, which is the creative, chance-based customization of the circuits within electronic devices to create new musical or visual instruments and sound generators. While you have your hands full with musical instruments you have to ‘lick the tin’ in order to make things work.

Tinlicker released their first studio album ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ in 2019. The album was championed by media including Billboard, DJ Mag, BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM. A slew of acclaimed EPs and singles followed, including remixes for alt-J, Kosheen and deadmau5, their Beatport #1 edit of Robert Miles’ ‘Children’ and their Gold & Platinum awarded song ‘Because You Move Me’ together with Helsloot.

With their second album released in 2022 called ‘In Another Lifetime’ – Tinlicker presents a brand new chapter as they demonstrate their vast personal and artistic growth. Including songs with Nathan Nicholson (The Boxer Rebellion), Jamie Irrepressible (Röyksopp) and ‘Rebirth’ together with Hero Baldwin. Also in 2022 their tune ‘Hypnotised’ was the official opening song of Tesla’s nex factory in Texas and their song ‘Because You Move Me’ reached Platinum in Germany, Triple Platinum in Switzerland, Triple gold in Austria, Platinum in France, Gold in Canada and Gold in their home country The Netherlands.

In November 2023 Tinlicker announced their fourth artist album, Cold Enough for Snow, which was released in February 2024. They also announced that this will be their first release on the [PIAS] Électronique label, departing Anjunadeep.
