Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium transformed into a gothic playground on Halloween night as AFI headlined a sold-out show with opener TR/ST. Fans packed the venue in full costume ready for a night that blurred the line between concert and celebration. The energy was electric as TR/ST set the eerie, synth-driven tone before AFI stormed the stage, delivering a dark, cinematic performance worthy of the holiday.
TS/ST
TR/ST is the electronic music project led by Canadian producer and vocalist Robert Alfons. Originally founded as a duo with Maya Postepski in Toronto around 2010, the collaboration released the debut album TRST in 2012. That record blended dark‑wave, synth‑pop and cold‑wave elements, earning acclaim for its charged atmosphere and tracks such as “Sulk.”
After Postepski departed to focus on her solo vision, Alfons continued TR/ST as a solo venture based in Los Angeles. His follow‑up album, Joyland (2014), moved toward more dance‑friendly and dream‑pop sensibilities while retaining emotional depth. In 2019 Alfons unveiled the ambitious two‑part album The Destroyer. Part 1 digs into the hedonism and grit of nightlife; Part 2 shifts toward ambient textures and introspection.
In late 2023 TR/ST signed to Dais Records, marking a new phase for the project. He released the single “Robrash” and the four‑track TR/ST EP, which included fan‑favorite “Slug” and collaborations with Cecile Believe and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. Alfons describes his creative process as feeling‑first, prioritizing mood and sonic texture over linear narrative.
TR/ST gained reputation for intense live shows, sonic risk‑taking, and an embrace of queer and club culture aesthetics. The project blends industrial edge with synth‑pop sheen, creating a compelling mix of dancefloor energy and emotional resonance. TR/ST continues to chart new territory in electronic music while maintaining the distinctive voice that built its loyal following.

AFI
Formed in Ukiah, California in 1991, AFI (A Fire Inside) climbed from hardcore‑punk roots to gothic‑tinged alternative rock. The group originally featured Davey Havok (vocals), Mark Stopholese (guitar), Vic Chalker (bass) and Adam Carson (drums). In 1998 the lineup solidified around Havok, Carson, Hunter Burgan (bass/keys/backing vocals) and Jade Puget (guitar/keys/backing vocals).
AFI’s early years found them steeped in punk‑hardcore circles, releasing EPs and albums such as Very Proud of Ya (1996) and Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes (1997). By 1999 they shifted sonic gear with Black Sails in the Sunset, blending gothic and post‑punk influences. Their fifth album, The Art of Drowning (2000), earned critical attention and logged on the Billboard 200.
The band’s commercial breakthrough arrived in 2003 with Sing the Sorrow, which peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and featured radio hits “Girl’s Not Grey” and “Silver and Cold.” In 2006, Decemberunderground debuted at number one in the U.S., led by the chart‑topping single “Miss Murder.”
AFI continued evolving through albums like Crash Love (2009), Burials (2013) and AFI (2017), always pushing beyond the sound that built their early fan base. Their most recent offering, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, released October 2025, shows the band still hungry to explore darker atmospheres and cinematic soundscapes.
Throughout their tenure, AFI built a reputation for theatrical stage presence, intense lyricism, and a community‑driven fan culture. They stayed current while retaining cred across punk, goth, and alternative scenes. Their legacy stands in both indie DIY roots and mainstream crossover success.
