The night featured a pulsating blend of new anthems and fan favorites, including “Satanized,” “Square Hammer,” and “Dance Macabre,” all anchored by the commanding presence of Papa V Perpetua. Ghost
Ghost is a Swedish rock band that emerged in 2006 from Linköping, quickly gaining international attention with their unique blend of heavy metal, hard rock, and pop melodies. Founded and led by Tobias Forge, Ghost stands out for its theatricality, mixing dark, occult themes with catchy hooks and compelling storytelling. Forge performs under the masked persona Papa Emeritus, now in its fifth version as Papa V Perpetua, while the rest of the band members perform anonymously as Nameless Ghouls. This mysterious presentation adds an air of mystique that has captivated fans worldwide.
The band’s breakthrough came with their third album, Meliora (2015), which featured the Grammy-winning single “Cirice.” This record helped cement Ghost as one of the most innovative bands in the metal and rock scenes, earning them critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Their follow-up album, Prequelle (2018), explored themes of death, plague, and mortality, wrapped in anthemic choruses and grand arrangements. With Prequelle, Ghost pushed boundaries, scoring high on various charts and expanding their influence beyond traditional metal audiences.
Ghost continued their evolution with the 2022 album Impera, which further showcased their ability to fuse theatrical storytelling with an accessible sound. The album’s success reinforced the band’s reputation for combining dark imagery with radio-friendly rock. Their live shows became legendary for their immersive experience, incorporating elaborate costumes, synchronized lighting, and engaging stage narratives, creating a concert atmosphere unlike any other in rock music.
In 2025, Ghost released Skeletá, their sixth studio album, marking a new creative chapter. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, their first chart-topping release in the United States. Skeletá features songs like “Satanized” and “Us Against God,” blending doom-laden riffs with infectious melodies and powerful lyrics. This record introduced Papa V Perpetua, Tobias Forge’s latest stage persona, continuing the band’s tradition of evolving their visual and thematic identities.
Ghost supported Skeletá with the Skeletour World Tour, which saw them performing in arenas worldwide with their signature phone-free policy. This approach deepened fan connection and enhanced the live atmosphere, earning praise for revitalizing the concert experience. Their shows feature sermon-like interactions, theatrical rituals, and a rich visual narrative that immerses audiences fully in the band’s darkly cinematic universe. Ghost’s ability to merge artistry, music, and storytelling makes them one of the most compelling bands of their generation.
Beyond music, Ghost has influenced fashion and pop culture, inspiring countless artists and fans. Their commitment to anonymity and elaborate stagecraft keeps audiences intrigued and engaged. Ghost continues to evolve, pushing the limits of what rock music can achieve in the 21st century.
