I can not even begin to tell you the JOY this show brought me. MATT MAESON SLAPS. Although there was not a big production factor (which I typically enjoy & is helpful when shooting the show), it was very mellow & low key. Matt’s lyrics, vocals, instruments, outshined it all. It really was a “less is more” situation.
One of the coolest parts was getting to be a part of the crowd. Matt posted on his instagram the day of the show and said it was his biggest headlining venue he has ever played….and it was SOLD OUT. Getting to see monumental moments for an artist you dig…it is quite a feeling. LET. ME. TELL. YOU!
I’m still recovering from the stupid flu that is going around, so the actual jumping around and going ham like I usually do at shows….wasn’t quite the case. I’ve had “Blood Runs Red” on one of my reoccurring playlists since it came out…and man I couldn’t help but to belt the words (this was while I was in the pit shooting and I’ll forever be grateful for how close I get to be during those first 3 songs). He’s honestly one of those artists who is better live than the recorded versions of his songs. YES, I’M TELLING YOU.
The crowd was singing back the words, which is also another moment you get to witness as a fan…the artist taking a step back, allowing the crowd to sing and digesting that they are singing YOUR words. If only I had the musical abilities to get to experience that myself, but hey, we don’t all get blessed with that gift.
I almost went to Maren Morris that night instead…but goodness I am so glad it was Matt’s show that won. This one is going to take a little time to get over. When is my next Matt Maeson show again? TBD…
