T-Pain @ Red Rocks

T-Pain and Akon had us N Love with them as they brought down the house at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on October 30th, 2024.

Akon

Senegalese-American singer, producer, and entrepreneur Akon mixes smooth R&B vocals with hip-hop grooves. He first gained fame with the single “Locked Up,” from his 2004 debut album, Trouble. A Top Ten hit in the U.S. and U.K., the song helped Trouble go platinum. A certification achieved several times over on subsequent albums including 2006’s Konvicted and 2008’s Freedom. Along with his music, Akon founded his own Konvict label. It would go on to launch the careers of artists including T-Pain, Lady Gaga, and Kardinal Offishall. He has showcased these label connections on 2013’s Konvict Mixtape, Vol. 1 and 2017’s Konvict Kartel, Vol. 2. In 2019, he delivered both the Latin-infused El Negreeto (featuring the Becky G collaboration “Como No”), and the Afrobeat-inspired Akonda. Following EP’s like 2023’s Afro Freak, he returned with the single “Beautiful Day” in 2024.

T-Pain

T-Pain’s singing ability has been on clear display since he first broke through to mainstream success in the early 2000s, and his use of Auto-Tune created a widespread ripple effect that defined certain areas of music for an entire generation. Following Rappa Ternt Sanga (2005), his descriptively titled debut album, the Floridian made a quick rise to the top of the Billboard 200 with Epiphany (2007), led by the number one Hot 100 hit “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’).”

Over the next few years, T-Pain released several albums of his own while appearing on numerous tracks, exemplified by Kanye West’s “Good Life” and Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It,” both of which won Grammys. By the release of Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits (2014), T-Pain had racked up five headlining platinum singles. He has remained an enduring cultural figure, winning the first season of The Masked Singer in 2019 and issuing albums like his 2023 covers set, On Top of the Covers, which tackles versions of classic songs originally performed by everyone from Sam Cooke to Black Sabbath.
