Tesla @ The Aztec Theatre

Tesla had everyone rocking out on June 5, 2024, when they stopped at The Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, TX, for their “Keepin’ it Real Tour” 2024! The energy was electric, especially with Kurt Deimer opening up for them!

Kurt Deimer

Many may know Kurt Deimer through his acting or his work with Geoffe Tate, but his performance was the perfect way to ignite the evening with Tesla! His robust vocals, complimented by the grittiness and edge of his band, had everyone ready to rock out. Despite his tough outward appearance, he is genuinely one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He spread love and positivity like wildfire during the entirety of his performance.

Deimer didn’t just perform; he sparked a personal bond with the audience, shaking the hands of front-row fans while singing and even performing one of his final songs within the crowd. Through his lyricism and stage presence, he made fans feel like they already knew him. Before playing his song “Live / Die,” he inspired people to live their lives and follow their dreams no matter what others say. His words struck a match with fans saying, “Don’t be afraid… you’re either gonna live or die,” and, “So don’t be afraid, get up and live your fucking life.”

After finishing an amazing 10-piece setlist with his band, which consisted of guitarists Brendan Hengle and Sammy, Marco Pera on bass guitar, and drummer Isiah Perez, he closed out his performance by telling everyone, “Peace and Love,” and then walked off the stage to meet fans at the merch table.

Tesla

At 9:15 p.m., the moment everyone was waiting for, arrived: to see Tesla live. Longtime fans brought their children with them, enthusiastic about being able to share such a special moment. The merch line also no longer wrapped around the stairs, as they were eager for the performance to start. An instant wave of nostalgia hit as soon as Jeff Keith, Frank Hannon, Bryan Wheat, Dave Rude, and Steve Brown hit the stage playing “Cumin’ Atcha Live.”

Their setlist included timeless classics such as “Love Song” and “Miles Away,” and they finalized an intense night of rock and roll with “Signs.” The lighting and visuals were stunning, capturing Tesla’s essence even more. At one moment, the screen behind everyone displayed a galaxy as Brown’s hair flipped everywhere while he played the drums, making it look like he was traveling through space.

This was truly an unforgettable night for classic rock fans. It was filled with high energy and passion, a testament to why Tesla has been a beloved band for almost half a century. Fans left the Aztec in awe and newfound memories, keeping the spirit of rock and roll alive!
