Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO was buzzing on September 12, 2025, as Coheed and Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, and Foxing took the stage for a night brimming with nostalgia and anticipation. Walking into the venue felt like stepping back into a version of myself I hadn’t seen in years. The crowd was full of millennial emo kids, now grown but no less ready to scream along like it was 2005. From the very first note, it was clear this wasn’t just another show—it was a chance to reconnect with the music that shaped us and prove it still hits just as hard under the Colorado stars.
Foxing
Foxing opened with a performance that was understated but powerful. Their set, full of slow builds and explosive emotional payoffs, started the night on a haunting note. Their layered sound felt almost orchestral. “Nearer My God” hit especially hard, filling the space with its sweeping energy. For a band often considered underdogs, they held the iconic stage with confidence, setting the tone for the night.

Taking Back Sunday
Then came Taking Back Sunday, and suddenly I was sixteen again. Adam Lazzara worked the stage with the same chaotic energy that made me love them back then, and the crowd was right there with him. Swinging his mic like a weapon, they tore through a setlist that felt like a love letter to longtime fans. “A Decade Under the Influence” and “Cute Without the ‘E’” had the crowd screaming every word back, and even the newer material blended seamlessly into the night. By the time “MakeDamnSure” hit, I was smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. It was rowdy, loud, and exactly what everyone wanted.

Coheed and Cambria
Coheed and Cambria closed the night with the kind of set that made the whole amphitheater feel like we’d stepped through a portal into another dimension. The animatronic skeleton dominating the stage set a surreal, cinematic tone, drawing the audience into the world of Vaxis – Act III. While tracks from their latest album were woven throughout the set, classics like “Blood Red Summer” and “A Favor House Atlantic” brought the crowd to full voice. It was the surprise cover of “Mr. Brightside,”though, that made the crowd explode with shared energy. Claudio’s vocals were assharp as ever, leading into a crushing “Welcome Home” that sent the night out on a high.

Walking out, you could still hear people humming riffs and talking about their favorite moments. Foxing cracked open the emotional core, Taking Back Sunday reminded us of our younger selves with joyous, cathartic singalongs, and Coheed and Cambria transported the crowd into a cinematic world of spectacle and sound. It was a night that reminded us why we fell in love with these songs in the first place, a shared, roaring affirmation that even without all the angst, the music we grew up screaming still hits just as hard under the stars, years later.
