MisterWives @ Ogden Theatre

The “Just For One Night” tour stopped in Denver, CO on October 24, 2024. A freaking lineup like no other (Misterwives, joan & Moody Joody), it was THE FREAKING BEST TIME.

Moody Joody

Having no previous knowledge of them or their music, I can now say I am their #1 fan (okay maybe not number one, but I am in it to win it!). I was so impressed by their charisma with each other on stage, and the vocals were like no other. They premiered a new song, which is a BOP btw (and I believe is out now, GO LISTEN TO THEIR SHIT!!). I also may or may not have a girl, but not girl, crush on Kayla *sheepishly backs away*.

Okay honestly the one thing you need to know about this set is that they (minus lead singer) switched positions while playing and if you saw me while this transpired, jaw was to the floor. I was like, wait what is happening? This is cool? But like, WHAT?! Besides jaw on the floor moments, the music also did that for me. Having very recently gone through a breakup, the songs had undertones of Jesus, hope, & joy, as well as love. I just remember feeling incredibly emo yet calm during their set, and I was NOT mad about it. Not one bit. BRAVOOOO, songsbyjoan.

MisterWives

I’ve been a fan of MisterWives since day one, and let me tell you I almost was going to miss this show (was supposed to be out of town). If you’re a NEWWWWBBB, MW announced prior to the tour that this would be their last for a while (but not ever), which made me so so so sad. ANYWAYS, I’m so glad I got to catch the show.

I could literally go on and on and on. But my friend and I got there early, and ended up getting a spot on barricade stage right. I had not been front row at a show in A WHIIIILE. It was a nostalgic yet anxiety inducing experience (my previous front row days is where my anxiety started, WOO). Watching them over time and to where they’re at now, it’s still the same energy they had at the beginning, evolving so much over the years.

From Mandy’s (lead singer) killer moves jumping, hopping, skipping, & MORE across the stage. To Will’s (bass) scream during one of the songs & constant hype and enthusiasm to the crowd. To Murph’s (sax) absolutely bonkers skills on the…well sax. Marc (guitar) brings the soft, bubbly vibes, consistently mouthing the lyrics & interacting with the crowd. And last but not least, Etienne (drums) keeping things on track for a smooth show.

Show aside, I want to give an absolute shoutout to MisterWives & their entire team. In the middle of the set, multiple people had passed out or had medical emergencies, which ended up stopping the show for probably 15ish minutes (I lost track). Their tour manager, Theresa, and I believe their audio/production guy (idk his name, SORRY!), were running around for water, help, & more. With how many shows I attend, it was never THAT long that people needed help to where it completely stopped the show and put it at a halt. Everyone involved & around were there & attentive. It was truly remarkable.

Safe to say, I will be having PCD until they get back to touring.
