WHAT AN ABSOLUTE SMASHER OF A SHOW. As Sam Smith would say, a big old gay club! Sam brought their “GLORIA the tour” to Denver on August 18, 2023, bringing along the amazingly talented Jessie Reyez to kick off the evening. We cannot even begin to express our praises for these two. So, here goes…
Jessie Reyez
MK, so we first have to address just how sassy and attitude-y Jessie was up on that stage. She really did bring the SPIIIIIICE. I was on fiyah with my adoration for her as a person, musician, her vocals, twerking & the massive screams she drew in from the crowd. I don’t think I have EVER heard a crowd that loud for an opener. Just a testament to how big her fan base is!
On a somber side, I did want to address something she brought up during her set. Basically, she was told to make it in the music industry she would have to perform sexual acts (I won’t go into detail). This was someone she looked up to, someone that had major power in the industry & was early on in her career. My mouth was to the floor while at the same time I wasn’t shocked. This is a MUCH bigger issue that I could rant on and on about, but I’m glad to see Jessie basically said “F U” and is absolutely slaying as an artist.

Sam Smith
Before Sam graced the stage, one of their dancers came out to do a big reveal of what was under a mysterious sheet. At first glance, I thought maybe it was going to be used for some cool lighting or visual effects, but I was dead wrong. The dancer removed the sheet and uncovered a massive gold sculpture of a body, laying flat across the stage, with the ass facing the crowd. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Sam, so bravo!

I think I may have been hyperventilating with anticipation to see Sam. Shooting the show, we were right up in front, and being that close to an icon such as Sam: a dream. They appeared right behind the big ole bootay, wearing a cow-they hat and rockin’ a glamous country flare.
My overall word for the entire show has got to be: SEXY. There was sensual dancing, hands all over each other, twerking, and at one point a couple of the dancers sharing a kiss. The way they all moved around the sculpture, dancing and frolicking on all parts. Yes yes yes.
We also got a surprise, as Jessie came out for to join Sam for a song. She even flipped upside down, and twerked on the sculpture. She was GIVING!
Throughout the show, Sam changed into many different outfits. Gracing us in a gorgeous ballgown for some of the slower songs, corsets for days, and towards the end of the show, fully shirtless with a speedo type bottom. Sam was letting it ALL out, embracing their body & emanating acceptance as well as body positivity. A great message for those who struggle with accepting their body (me included).
I left this show in major awe, and I am definitely experiencing the PCD felt after such an amazing time.
