For their “Remember the Name Tour,” The Struts put on a timeless performance on November 16 at The Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, TX. Supporting them was Hot For Crime and Mac Saturn!
Hot For Crime
Hot For Crime just embarked on tour with The Struts and they did not disappoint! Comprised of Mick Dorn as the lead singer, Miles Schon & Chris Purvis on the guitars, drummer Zach Zoller, bassist Paul O’Malley, & Paige Williams on the keyboard. They had such dynamic chemistry when they performed together. With ridiculous guitar riffs & Dorn’s vocals, it felt as if the venue transported back to the age of classic rock. Their setlist included songs from their self-titled debut album including “So Good” and “Good Bad Girl.” For many, this was their first time hearing Hot For Crime, as they recently formed in 2022. But they certainly left as a new fan. It will be exciting to see where the band will go from here!

Mac Saturn
Next up to perform was Mac Saturn from Detroit, Michigan! They brought such an infectious energy to the stage by dancing around with maracas and a tambourine.
For it being their first time in San Antonio, they left a lasting impression! Taking influences from rock n’ roll and Motown, they transfused these genres together while performing some of their top hits. These included “Mr. Cadillac,” “Mint Juliep,” and “Ain’t Like You.” It was amazing to be able to let loose and get lost in the music.

The Struts
To finalize the evening were The Struts, with lead singer Luke Spiller, bassist Jed Elliot, drummer Gethin Davies, and Adam Slack on the guitar. They just released their fourth studio album, Pretty Vicious, on November 3, 2023, and integrated a few songs into their setlist while also keeping classics such as “Rockstar” and “Could Have Been Me” as well. The whole night, from start to finish, was incredibly lively, with the band loving how “fucking rowdy” everyone was during the show!
Dressed in gold metallic and fringe, Spiller really got the crowd engaged by having them yell “Yeah!” back at him and getting everyone to clap their hands to the introductions before he sang. At one point, he took a break from performing and opened up about the realities of mental health and going on tour. He shared about how as much as he loves touring, there are some days that he doesn’t have it in him. He admitted that that day he was in a pretty foul mood, but “breathes life back into him,” as he puts it, the dedication and excitement of his fans. It really touched the audience, as many people appreciated his vulnerability and related to his struggles. He closed out his talk by telling everyone to not give up on their dreams.
Seeing all three bands live made it feel like The Aztec Theatre time travelled back to the 1970’s and it will be a show that fans of all ages will fondly look back on.
