On October 7th, 2025, Rainbow Kitten Surprise brought a wave of indie magic to Louisville, KY while performing at Old Foresters Paristown Hall. They were joined by Raised By the Internet’s Jelani Aryeh, who set the stage for an unforgettable night. Here’s what stuck with me after the show…
Jelani Aryeh
Opening the night was Jelani Aryeh, the genre-hopping artist behind the TikTok anthem “Stella Brown,” who delivered a set that was equal parts restless and nostalgic. His sound—a blend of bedroom pop and post-punk energy—made the venue feel intimate, almost like a living-room performance. Drawing from his sophomore album, I’ve Got Some Living To Do, Jelani had the crowd swaying and singing along to “Stella Brown” and “Marigold,” songs that feel made for a road trip with the windows down. With over half a million monthly listeners, it’s incredible to see how far he’s come since 2017. The night felt like a soundtrack of memories, and Jelani’s set was the perfect warm-up for what came next.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise
When Rainbow Kitten Surprise (RKS) arrived on stage, the crowd roared with anticipation and excitement. RKS opened their night with “LOL” from their album Love Hate Music Box. The energy in the crowd grew as the fans sang and danced to song after song. Each transition felt like a satisfying surprise as RKS jumped from album to album. The band had a set list of songs that jumped from multiple albums, but without missing a beat, the crowd sang along to each one. This really showed me the deep love and admiration RKS fans have for the band’s entire discography.
Crowd favorites included “Fever Pitch,” “It’s Called Freefall,” and “Painkillers.” I noticed heartfelt fans holding friends and partners close as they shared a night filled with the hopelessly romantic lyricism we love from the band. The dream team members are Ela Melo, Darrick “Bozzy” Keller, Ethan Goodpaster, and Jess Haney. The band’s lead singer, Ela Melo, dazzles the crowd with a playfully sassy and captivating performance of the songs. She truly is a superstar on stage. Bozzy, the guitarist and vocalist, stunned the Louisville fans with a clean tone and haunting vocals. Additionally, the band brought along a new touring bassist, Maddie Bouton. She meshed perfectly with the original band members, bringing a new vibe to the group.

The night was a hit: from the lighting, to the performance, to the voting registration near the box office. This is a band that never fails to dazzle fans with lyrical prose that balances between wild and dreamy. The band has an audience in awe that follows their every song, show, or video. The lyrics comment on personal heartbreak and self-discovery, leaving fans in a comforting haze.
For those wanting to be draped in the nostalgia of Jelani Aryeh, then have their hearts ripped from inside out before being put perfectly back in place by Rainbow Kitten Surprise, you can’t miss this show.
